Márton holds an MA in Theoretical Linguistics and an MA in English Language and Literature from Eötvös Loránd University. He is an assistant research fellow at the Research Institute for Linguistics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and he is working on his Ph.D. thesis, Analogy in Romani Morphology. His main fields of research are phonology, morphology, morphophonology, and the comparative study of generative and non-generative theoretical frameworks. Thanks to his initial interest in sociolinguistics he is not just an armchair linguist; he has done fieldwork among the Roma in the Hungarian countryside as part of Romani language projects carried out by the University of Manchester, the Charles University in Prague and the Plurilingualism Research Unit at the University of Graz.
