Their goals are to broaden the mathematics and programming knowledge of anyone interested, demonstrate a real project\u2019s workflow and work on projects together with members of the society. They have weekly sessions where they encourage members to join the active programmers in creating awesome and useful projects and to discuss software development concepts used at many companies. Their newest initiative is the Computational Biology branch of the society which introduces the medical-biological applications of IT.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"student-overlay04\" class=\"col-12 mst-popupbox-clubs-overlay\"><span class=\"mst-overlay-close-clubs\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/milestone-institute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/ios-cl-black.svg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p-5\">The Debating Society\u2019s main goal is to improve the members\u2019 critical thinking, reasoning technique and public speaking skills. During our sessions, we begin with a short workshop to introduce the basics of debating and then we start our debate. The members engage with different motions each time to discover topics from economics to politics and deal with social problems. We hold weekly sessions where the students can prepare for both national and international competitions apart from being in a great and open-minded community. As George Orwell famously wrote, \u201cWho controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.\u201d We at the History Society share a similar belief: we study the known past in order to better understand where we once began, and to discover the direction we must take as we move toward an uncertain future.<br \/>\nOur work follows a trimester-based thematic structure, which we enrich through events, competitions, guest speakers with professional expertise, and conferences. This Society\u2019s most essential part is to create a community where we learn, build and test together. It is key to understand the importance and addictiveness of creating \u2013 especially in a group. Nature is ruled by laws \u2013 laws that are meant to be broken. The Engineering Society lets people\u2019s imagination and their hunger for modelling and shaping run amok. Here we create the most fun and wildest things \u2013 whilst evolving as scientists as well. The society looks for new challenges and projects each term, all are welcome, not only those with an engineer-mindset.\n\n--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p-5\">The United Civil Society (UCS) aims to create a welcoming community for both Milestone and non-Milestone students to learn about social issues and civil concerns, find their voices in advocating for these matters, and discover joy in understanding their environment and the world around them. If they choose, they can also work toward making a positive change. We strive not only to foster a community of more aware and expressive youth but also to equip all students who visit or join us with the essential skills needed to experience volunteering. Through a variety of activities and events, we strive to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Chinese traditions, language, arts, and history. Our primary goal is to raise awareness and encourage appreciation of Chinese culture. We achieve this through Cultural Workshops, where participants can explore traditional Chinese arts such as calligraphy, painting, and music. Additionally, we offer Language Classes with Mandarin lessons for beginners. In our sessions, we explore a variety of topics and organize interactive activities that allow everyone to apply what they&#8217;ve learned. Besides our usual sessions of debating global issues we organize termly mini-conferences, guest speaker sessions with speakers from institutions such as the World Bank, while also attending international conferences every term in countries such as but not limited to France, Slovenia and Austria. Our Society seeks to foster a community of sagacious, independent thinkers who are equipped to tackle their future endeavours with deep insights. Led by a student presidency, the Society offers a collaborative space where aspiring students may find satisfaction in investigating what they find puzzling in the world of thought. We want to create a safe place, where everyone can share their ideas and problems regarding psychology.<br \/>\nFurthermore, the society\u2019s sessions will ensure that members get a diverse and deep knowledge about the mind-blowing world of psychology. We will help our members to get ready for competitions (e.g.: essay competitions). We seek to introduce them to the basics of political science, political philosophy, as well as discussing how best to navigate contemporary political landscapes in our day-to-day lives. The SRC is made up of representatives from each grade level and is overseen by the President and Vice President of the SRC.<\/p>\n<p><strong> Its tasks include: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"mst-list-ul\">\n<li class=\"py-1\">building a strong sense of community among Milestone students;<\/li>\n<li class=\"py-1\">representing the student voice in their year group and working with the academic team;<\/li>\n<li class=\"py-1\">overseeing the well-being of the student community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The student organisations are run by student leaders, under the supervision of Erzs\u00e9bet D\u00facz, Student Life Coordinator (erzsebet.ducz@msinst.org).
