Are you excited about the idea of turning your ideas into a research project, but don’t know where to start? What sets apart social sciences from other disciplines altogether, and what kind of questions are suitable for this field?
In addition, most grants and research opportunities in academia make or break on a well-written, compelling research proposal. Researching Social Problems offers students an opportunity to learn firsthand about the process of coming up with an idea and transforming it into a research project. The participants of this module gain practical knowledge about the know-how of building up a strong and feasible research proposal step by step through a clearly defined social, socioeconomic, or sociocultural problem. During the second half of the module, the participants have the opportunity to gather their own data, experiencing one of the most thrilling part of research.
The module leaders, who are themselves experienced researchers, will provide targeted methodological and subject-specific readings corresponding to the topics selected. They will guide the participants through the steps of creating a research plan while sharing their own experiences, providing insights into the practical aspects of social science. Meanwhile, they support the participants to deepen their knowledge in their chosen topic and create the foundation for future independent research that they can carry forward.
