The module aims to familiarise students with the basics of statistical research and data analysis in social and psychological sciences, focusing on frequentist statistics. The material comprises the subjects of scales, descriptive statistics, inferential statistics including independent and repeated measures t-tests, one- and two-way ANOVAs, effect sizes, and correlational analysis. In addition, the course will also introduce to students the statistical software JASP and have the students conduct practical data analysis with the concepts and methodologies learned. Finally, the course will aim to drive home the underlying theory and limitations behind frequentist statistics.
