Gergely has received his PhD in Mathematics at University College London in 2009. He is an active researcher of Pure Mathematics, mostly geometry, analysis and combinatorics. He has had several post-doc positions, including Cambridge, Berkeley, Vancouver, Lausanne and Toulouse. Currently, he is a research fellow at the Renyi Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and a professor at the Budapest Semesters in Mathematics. Besides his professional career, he is also an avid sportsman and a cave photographer, and he has led and participated in expeditions to several remote corners of the planet.
