Forensic Science
The aim of this Module is to provide students with an understanding of how various branches of science can contribute to criminal investigations and to building a legal case before courts of law.
In each session, we will focus on a particular field of forensic science, exploring its history, and highlighting its applications as well as its limitations based on a study of real-life case studies.
The Module is accessible to a wider audience with limited or no previous knowledge in the discipline, but some background experience or a keen interest in Natural and Material Sciences is an advantage. The topics in the Module cover the History of Forensics, Physical, Chemical and Biological Analysis, Digital Forensics and connections with Law practice.
Content note: Some of the sessions refer to real-life criminal cases, the details of which may be upsetting to more sensitive students.
