Politics, Law and Philosophy Tutorial

The Philosophy, Politics and Law tutorial is a lively, interactive dispute- and discussion-centred module created with the aim to systematically prepare students applying for any course or a combination of courses and/or a combined course which includes these subjects and interdisciplinary fields of study.
In the tutorial, students will conduct in-depth discussions with the tutors and each other, focusing on key questions related to the theory, methodology, and practice of inquiry in philosophy, politics, and legal studies. The tutorial is structured around exploring age-old philosophical problems that range from the nature of truth and knowledge, notions and concepts and theories of being and identity, notions of morality, justice, and freedom. Furthermore, it aims to explore questions that range from the role and relationship of the state and the individual, together with current hot issues and once taboos of public discourse meant to be broken these days.
By participating in this module, students will develop their analytical and reasoning skills and be able to employ the knowledge they gained from their previous studies and readings in a competitive academic setting such as a university admission interview, and even beyond, in the personalised learning system of the Oxford and Cambridge universities.
