Quantitative Research Methods
This module takes you on a journey of love, self-discovery, mystery, and betrayal. Oh, and there will be some statistics as well.
This module follows a few chapters of An Adventure in Statistics by Andy Field, and provides an introduction to quantitative research methods and statistical procedures so you can start asking—and more importantly, answering—your very own research questions.
Why would you want to do that? Well, we all have theories about how the world works. For example, what happens when you tape a toast—buttered side up, of course—to the back of your cat? We can theorise, but to do science, we need more than guesses. We need data. Quantitative research and statistics help us test our ideas and make sense of the patterns we see around us.
Also: please do not tape toasts to your cat.
Throughout this module, you’ll go on an adventure with Zach, band member of The Reality Enigma, and learn how to collect and analyse data, evaluate sources, and communicate your findings clearly and convincingly. In short, you will develop skills you will need for any research project you may want to embark on in the future.
