Module leader
Juli is a neurobiologist with more than two decades of experience in research, teaching and science communication. She earned an MSc in Biology (2001) as well as in Teaching of Biology (2002) at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) Faculty of Science, where she also met most of her best friends and the guy who later became her husband and the father of their two children. While doing her PhD in neurobiology at the University of Pécs, Juli also worked as an editor for the the popular science weekly Élet és Tudomány (‘Life and Science”). In 2006 she moved to London with her husband and was very proud to be hired by Nature Publishing Group as an Associate Editor for one of the group’s medical journals. After returning to Hungary with her family and working for a Hungarian medical journal for a while, she applied in 2012 for a job at ELTE’s Bárczi Gusztáv Faculty of Special Needs Education where she has been working ever since as an Assistant Professor. Juli is teaching biomedical courses, such as Anatomy, Neuroanatomy and Embryology, and courses related to the pathology of various disabilities. Since 2019, she also teaches anatomy for international students at the English-language psychology BA program at Károli Gáspár University. Her main research topic is the prevalence of neuromyths – that is, false beliefs about the nervous system – in education. Her hobbies include contemporary literature, etymology and classical music (with experience in piano playing and choir singing.)
