Applications begin!

Before we meet

Six conversations about learning, choices and what happens after the application.

Preparing to study abroad begins long before a university application is submitted. It starts with curiosity, self-knowledge, thoughtful decisions and the experiences through which a student gradually discovers what genuinely interests them.

About the series

A fuller picture of the world of higher education

In the Applications begin! conversations, students and experts explore some of the most important questions around international higher education. We talk about the admissions process, the opportunities available during secondary school, choosing a subject and university, the role of artificial intelligence in education, and the paths that can open up after earning a degree abroad.

Together, the six episodes offer a fuller picture of the world Milestone students are preparing to enter.

First story

An international application starts long before you apply

Applying to an international university is a complex process in which strong grades are only one part of the story. Students need to discover their own academic interests, build an authentic profile and understand early on how expectations differ from country to country.

In the first episode, Sára Vértes uses her own journey to show the decisions, uncertainties and opportunities that can shape this process. The conversation is for those who want to understand how an interest developed during secondary school can become a deliberate university direction and a successful application.

Second story

Secondary school offers more opportunities than you may think

Student life becomes memorable through experiences that allow young people to turn their own ideas into reality, build communities and try out new roles. A project, a student society or an event created together can often develop skills that are harder to reveal in a traditional classroom.

This episode focuses on student life at Milestone and the role of independent initiatives. The conversation explores how a supportive community can become an important part of personal growth, taking responsibility and, later on, a compelling university application.

Third story

Look for the right direction, not just a university name

Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard or MIT can easily capture your attention. A good university decision, however, requires deeper questions: what field truly interests you, how do you want to learn, and which institution offers the strongest academic environment for you?

The conversation explores ideas surrounding leading international universities, different student profiles and the importance of choosing a subject deliberately. It helps separate rankings from genuine personal fit and shows why the first task is to formulate your own questions clearly.

Fourth story

There is more than one good path

International higher education offers very different opportunities depending on the country, institution and field of study. Admissions work differently in the United Kingdom, the United States and continental Europe, and the structure of degree programmes can differ substantially as well.

This episode brings the different study pathways and their admissions expectations into a clearer framework. Its aim is to move beyond the general idea of a ‘top university’ and think instead about specific subjects, educational models, countries and personal goals.

Fifth story

How is artificial intelligence changing learning?

Artificial intelligence is already part of students’ everyday work. It can help sharpen questions, uncover connections and start a research process more quickly. Its value depends on the thinking, knowledge and responsibility that accompany its use.

The fifth episode examines the role of AI in education. The conversation considers how it is changing learning, what opportunities it opens up, and which abilities become even more important in a world where generating information is becoming increasingly easy.

Sixth story

What happens after an international degree?

For many students, studying abroad is an important goal, while also being only one stage in a much longer journey. After graduation, new questions arise: where should you look for work, what relationship will you maintain with Hungary, and how can the knowledge and experience gained abroad be put to use later on?

The final episode looks at the less visible continuation of studying abroad. It discusses the advantages and challenges of life abroad, starting a career, the possibility of returning home, and the decisions that shape young people’s futures long after university admissions are over.

The next conversation is about you

The videos show the kinds of questions we explore at Milestone. When we meet in person, we want to hear about you: what interests you, what opportunities you are looking for, and where you would like to go next.
